Specialty training in Anaesthesia in Spain (MIR) or recognition of your specialty training in anaesthesia in Spain with 3 years experience working in Spain.

We require experience in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) apart from the theatre.

HSE hospitals in Ireland (Public Hospitals) require Locum Consultants in Anaesthesiology for at least 6 months as from August- September 2020.

In the Anaesthetic department you will be leading a team of Registrar and SHO doctors in Anaesthesia. Also as a Consultant doctor in Anaesthesiology you will be fully responsible for the outcome of your work. You will also be working with some of the most well respected doctors in the country in anaesthesiology who will be able to advise you in respect of your career decisions for the future.


• Initial contract of 6 months up to 1 year. Possibility of extension of this contract.
• Approximate net monthly salary of 6500-7500€ net/month after tax and pension deductions for Consultant positions. Could have the possibility to earn more money through private patients attending the hospital. Typical long term Consultants in Ireland are earning in excess of 10.000€ net/month (approximately 200.000€ gross/year).
• 31 working days per Year holidays for Consultants+ public holidays (there is 9 in a year).
• 7 study days leave per year to attend conferences or further education for Consultants.
• Up to 3000€ for educational funding for Consultants.
• Lucrative pension scheme included.

Requirements and Qualifications:

1. Should be on the Specialist registrar of the Irish Medical Council for Anaesthesiology if this is NOT the case we will help all eligible candidates to get registered with the Irish Medical Council on the Specialist Registrar if he/she has completed his/her training in Anaesthesiology inside the European Union. Please take into account that the process can take up to 3-4 months in total.

2. Have a very good command of written and spoken English (at least a B2-C1 level of English). IELTs/OET examination would be recommendable although not essential if you can proof a good level of English.
3. Good motivation to go to Ireland to work as a doctor as from August-September 2020.
4. At least 5-6 years’ experience in Anaesthesia is required (including your training years).
5. Skills in general anaesthesia are required as could be obstetric anaesthesia, local anaesthesia, difficult airways, emergency care, intensive care, thoracic anaesthesia, abdominal anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia (general) and vascular surgery anaesthesia. HOWEVER WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR THESE KIND OF POSTS IS THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU).
